Side

Termessos was a Pisidian city built at about a thousand metres on Güllük Mountain. Its position was so defensible that it was never captured — Alexander the Great's siege also came to nothing.
The theatre sits at the edge of a steep drop, and with the mountains behind it counts among the most striking ancient structures in the region. Cisterns, a gymnasium and rock tombs can also be seen.
Visiting means a steep, rocky walk of roughly an hour from the car park. Sturdy shoes and water are needed; being inside a national park, the wildlife here is rich.
