Alanya
A 13th-century Seljuk fortress with 6.5 km of walls around the peninsula, reached by road or cable car.
Cleopatra Beach runs for about two kilometres along the western foot of Alanya Castle and is the city's best-known stretch of sand. Its name comes from a local story linking it to the Egyptian queen.
Coarse pale sand, clear water and a gradually deepening entry meet Blue Flag criteria. A promenade, showers, changing cabins and kiosks line the shore.
It is within walking distance of central Alanya. In the afternoon the castle hill casts shade over part of the beach.
